Live on KEXP

(Note that at the time of this posting, the Bears are now 7-0).

We will be playing a live set for KEXP tomorrow, Monday, at noon. The format also includes time for an interview, so tune in to hear us say our names awkwardly in order. It is highly likely that someone will say, "Hey, there are two Dans! That's easy to remember!".

Tune in at www.kexp.org. Then come to Philly with us to check out the Cold War Kids.

Cheers to Washinton DC and the DAM! Festival last night... we had a blast, and hopefully CHIME can benefit from the rockin'.

Bound Stems + Amy Sedaris. Hot.

Good news, Twins fans.

Bound Stems will be playing a special show November 15 with Amy Sedaris in Minneapolis, as she tours to support her new book, I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence. According to hosts Minnesota Public Radio, this event will "bring together writers, be they novelists, screenwriters, bloggers or critics, and some of their favorite musicians for an evening of music and insights that spring from the written word." Word?

Tickets are $15, and they are available starting today from Ticketmaster.

Here is Amy Sedaris doing pilates covered in sprinkles.

W-OXY!

Last night's show in Cincinnati gave us the chance to stop by WOXY and do some guest DJing. All that is well and good, but mainly it gave us an hour to drink energy drinks with Mike and Shiv.

You've probably heard the news, but WOXY is back up and running thanks to something called LALA.com. Whatever it is, buy what they're selling - they obviously have great taste and even better foresight.

Here are some studio-cam pics:

Also, a stranger named Julie made a beautiful poster for the show. Her website is 80percent.com.

Thank you so much.

Fine, fine.

Okay, it's true. We have a band crush on Maritime.

But seriously, look at Dan's posture in this photo, taken at the last of our shows together in Cleveland. Impeccable.

He even sits like this when losing all of his poker chips to Fleury.

Truancy.

We've been a little behind in the posts... probably because we're now playing shows with Maritime, and that always leads to some debauchery and a race to the next city.

Cheers to New York - we packed the Mercury Lounge last night and had a hell of a time. Special thanks to Thax Douglas, who read a poem just before our set.

Here it is now:

"Bound Stems #2"

intelligence
gift wrapped
with invisibility sits
inches away from the beautiful machine
still
glistening with birth -
the intelligence
wafts in through
two air hole labyrinths,
its paths becoming magnetic type
and thus immortal
to the organs
that read the tape
as "problems",
not knowing
what else to call
such a venture.

Gotta go sound check. More soon. Come on out, Boston, it's a beautiful night.

"I used to be a scientist."

Some nights you really give it your all, and play the best that you possibly can, and then robots get on stage and sing Billy Idol and that one "if you like pina coladas" song. Such was the case last night in Columbia, MO.

Poor quality camera phone pics are all we have, but we'll be putting them up shortly. Ah, here's one now.

Also we'd like to thank Professor Beilein for buying the pizza and beer, and providing us with a place to crash. Go Cards, Joe. Go Cards.

See you in Des Moines!

New tees!

Our new shirts have arrived, and they look hot.

Here is a picture of Radz and Mrs. Porche folding them:

And here is the design up close. If you want one, email us at payments@boundstems.com... they are $10 plus shipping, so probably about $15 total.

And finally, where was everyone in Dallas tonight? We missed you, you missed us!

worst tour post ever:

Bobby got new toothpaste. He prefers Crest.

To the Midas in Georgetown, TX:

No one has ever charged more for the services that you provided. Also, no one has ever taken longer to perform these services. Thanks a ton.

Cool Tapes!

Cheers to the Houston crowd. Thanks for staying late on a Wednesday night, and a special thanks to Thomas of Frank from Accounting, who offered us a place to crash.

Cool Tapes was DJing the whole night, and he played, literally, all of our favorite songs. JAMS.

Here is a picture of Cool Tapes with Evan, and it is worthy to note that Evan's shirt says "EVAN'S".

Austin ... and the News.

Last night's Emo's show was a treat, especially playing with fellow Chicagoans Catfish Haven.

But most importantly, we are thrilled to be participating in a compilation CD of Huey Lewis and the News covers - other participating bands include Broken Social Scene and Feist (who quickly laid claim to "This Is It", good call).

We're headed to Houston, but you can bet that we'll be singing "Doing it all for my Baby" all the way there.

Might be wrong on these posts. I assure you, it's October.

the wildlife tour

Hello friends.

This new format and blog are new to us, so we'll probably be pretty slow at first. Thanks for your patience... Our first two weeks of this tour have been full of important lessons. Oil changes. Fabric softener. Don't run red lights in Wyoming. Do not eat the FourthMeal.

We'd like to thank everyone who came out to our shows on the west coast - we're headed to Texas tomorrow for a few days, and we'll be playing shows in Austin, Houston, and Dallas. Let us know if you're coming out and we'll be sure to say hello.

Recently in Portland we stayed with Justin (formerly of Lying in States) and his girlfriend Kendra. They have a beautiful farm just outside of the city where we ate fresh pears, wrestled with dogs, and met this goat.

In other news, we are excited to be playing with the Cold War Kids in Philadelphia on October 30th, and watch for tour dates with Rahim coming in December.

In Albuquerque, eat at the Frontier on Central St.

Cheers from the road. See you soon.
